Morris State Bank History
In
November 1954, when Louie Livingston made the first
deposit in Morris Bank, life was simple, and business
was conducted on a gentleman’s word and a handshake.
In our constantly changing community, we still believe
in that philosophy, and our commitment to our
customers is stronger than ever.
The
bank was originally located on the first floor of the
Morris Office Building at 200 South Jefferson Street.
George T. Morris served as President and Founder. In
April 1963, the bank moved to its new building at 301
Bellevue Avenue
and the Mall Office was opened in October, 1971.
Construction is currently underway for a new
facility that will open in 2008 at the bank's
current downtown location.
Our Board of Directors include Lisa Livingston Black,
Chairman; Melton E. Tyson, Vice Chairman; F. Scott
Beasley; O. D. Cullen, III; Ben Hall, Jr.; Roger W. Miller; Wallace E. Miller; Spencer N. Mullis; and Robert J. Walker.
We
believe in a commonsense approach to banking and
practical financial solutions with all of our decisions
being made locally. Let us show you how easy
it is to do business with Morris State Bank.
